Production Floor
The Production Floor (Shop Floor) is a read-only visual board for tracking, in real time, the tasks already scheduled on your Production Orders' routing, organized by Work Center. It doesn't create or edit any transaction: it's a supervision view meant to let a shop supervisor see, at a glance, what's being manufactured, where, and by whom.
What is it and what is it for?
This area has no create or edit forms of its own. It shows the operations-routing tasks you already assigned on your Production Orders (for example, from the Master Production Schedule's Scheduling screen or from Production Lines), grouped by the Work Center where each task takes place.
It has two complementary views, reachable from the header links:
- Task Status: one panel per Work Center with cards for the tasks scheduled within the chosen date range (today, by default), showing the order, its status, who's working it and with which equipment.
- Weekly Plan: one panel per Work Center with a bar chart of the hours scheduled day by day, for the seven days following the date you pick.
If you need to reassign the employee, the equipment, or change a task's dates, do it from the matching Production Order's Scheduling screen; the Production Floor only reflects that data, it doesn't change it.
How to use it
- Open Production Floor. By default you see Task Status, with today's tasks grouped by Work Center.
- Filter the period, subsidiary and location. Adjust the From/ To range and, if it applies, the Subsidiary and Location (its sub-locations are included automatically). Press Refresh to apply the filters.
- Review each Work Center. Every task card shows the Production Order (linked to its detail screen), its Status, the task description, the scheduled start and end date/time, the assigned Equipment (linked to the Fixed Asset, if any) and the Operator (photo and link to their Employee record, if one is assigned).
- Switch to Weekly Plan using the header link. Pick the starting date (today, by default); each Work Center shows a chart with the total hours scheduled per day for the next seven days. Use Refresh to recalculate them if you change the date, subsidiary or location.
Screens in this area
| Screen | What it does |
|---|---|
| Task Status | One panel per active Work Center (or inactive one with scheduled tasks) with the tasks from non-voided Production Orders within the chosen date range, ordered by their start date. |
| Weekly Plan | One panel per active Work Center with a bar chart of hours scheduled per day, for the seven days following the chosen date. |
Key fields
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Work Center | Groups the tasks shown; if it's flagged Inactive, it's labeled as such, but it still shows up as long as it has tasks within the queried range. |
| Production Order | The task's source document (linked directly to its detail screen); only non-voided orders are listed. |
| Status | The Production Order's status (Open, In Process or Closed), with a distinct color to spot it quickly. |
| Task description | Free text captured on the order's routing, to identify what's being done at that Work Center. |
| From / To | The task's scheduled start and end date and time. |
| Equipment | The Fixed Asset assigned to the task (if the routing has one associated), linked to its record. |
| Operator | The employee responsible for the task (if one was assigned), with their photo and a link to their record. |
| Hours (Weekly Plan) | The sum of hours scheduled per day at that Work Center, used to build the weekly workload chart. |
How the information you see is built
- Read-only: this area doesn't create, edit or delete anything; everything shown comes from tasks already scheduled on your Production Orders.
- Only current orders: only non-voided Production Orders are considered.
- Subsidiary filter: results are always limited to your active subsidiary in session; if your plan has subsidiaries enabled, the Subsidiary filter only lets you narrow it down further within that subsidiary.
- Location filter: picking a Location automatically includes all of its sub-locations within the hierarchy.
- Different date range per view: on Task Status, the From/To range you pick is applied as-is (today, by default). On Weekly Plan, you only pick the starting date; the system always calculates the following seven days.
- Work Centers with no tasks: an inactive Work Center with no scheduled tasks within the queried range doesn't show up on the board.
Availability, modules and permissions
- Requires the Enterprise edition with the Advanced Manufacturing module (Work Centers) active.
- On top of the module, your company needs this feature specifically enabled. If you don't see the "Production Floor" option in the Manufacturing menu, contact AdmCloud support to request it.
- Access is controlled by the "Service Orders" permission on the user group (View level).
Tips and common mistakes
Use it as a shift-start board: check Task Status with today's range to see, Work Center by Work Center, which orders are open or in process and who's working on them.
If a Work Center shows the message that there are no scheduled orders, it means it has no routing tasks dated within the range you queried — not that the Work Center is misconfigured.
Not seeing any data, or the whole board is missing? First check that you have the "Service Orders" permission at View level and that your company has the Advanced Manufacturing module and the Production Floor feature active; if everything checks out and you still don't see tasks, confirm your Production Orders' Scheduling actually has dates and a Work Center assigned within that range.
