Finished Product Construction

A Finished Product Construction is the document that records the actual output of a Production Order: the finished products that were actually manufactured, with their quantity, cost, lot/serial/attribute when applicable, and the services (labor or other services) consumed in the process. When saved, AdmCloud updates inventory (the finished product enters stock) and generates the matching accounting entry.

Module: Advanced Manufacturing (Enterprise edition) Requires the "Finished Product Construction" permission of your user group

What is it and what is it for?

This screen is mostly for browsing: the list shows every construction already registered (with its date, location and Bill of Materials), lets you filter by date and subsidiary, and open each one's detail or print view. A construction is normally not created from here: it's generated by clicking the Build button on the matching Production Order, so the recorded production always stays linked to the order that originated it.

Each construction has three detail tabs:

  • Finished Products: the items manufactured, with the quantity produced (and, if your plan allows it, the rejected quantity), unit of measure, and their lot, serial number, bin or attributes when the item requires them.
  • Services: labor or other services consumed, with their quantity and cost. The total service cost is automatically spread across the finished products, in proportion to their cost, increasing each one's final cost.
  • Operations Path: the detail of the operations performed (operation, work center, operator, equipment, hours and time window), copied from the Production Order. Only shown if your company has Work Centers enabled.

How to use it

  1. From the Production Order you're manufacturing, click the Build button (optionally choosing the matching BOM Stage). AdmCloud automatically copies the finished products, services and operations path defined by that order's Bill of Materials onto the new construction.
  2. Review and adjust the quantities actually produced on the Finished Products tab (and the rejected quantity, if your plan tracks it), along with the lot, serial, bin or attributes that apply to each item.
  3. Adjust the Services tab, if applicable, with the labor or other services actually consumed.
  4. If your company has Work Centers enabled, review the Operations Path tab with the detail of each operation performed.
  5. Attach supporting files on the Files tab if you need to.
  6. Click Save. AdmCloud creates the document number (if your company set up automatic numbering), increases the stock of the finished products, marks the Production Order as In Progress and generates the accounting entry.
ℹ️

The construction's Production Order field is fixed (read-only) from the moment it's generated, since a construction always belongs to a single order.

Main capabilities

  • Filter the list by date range and, if your plan has Subsidiaries enabled, by Subsidiary; customize which columns show and in what order, saving your own configuration.
  • Review the report of Finished Product Constructions, filtered by location, subsidiary and date range.
  • Print the construction, with the manufactured products, the source production order and sales order (if the order came from one), and the total cost (based on your costs permission).
  • Review the accounting Journal Entry generated by the construction from its detail screen.
  • Void an already-saved construction, if you have the matching permission and the accounting period is still open.
  • Attach supporting files to each construction.
  • Add your own custom fields to the form, if your plan allows it.

Key fields

Field What it is for
NumberIdentifies the construction. Generated automatically if your company set up automatic numbering; can't repeat or change once saved.
DateMust fall within an open Inventory accounting period.
Production OrderThe order the construction originates from. Required and read-only: inherited when built from the order.
SubsidiaryRequired if your company has Subsidiaries enabled; must match the Subsidiary of the Location indicated.
LocationWarehouse where the finished product's stock enters. Required.
Finished Products (Item, Quantity, Rejected Quantity, Unit, Bin, Lot, Serial, Attributes)The items actually manufactured. At least one is required, and each item must be one of the finished products defined on the order's Bill of Materials.
Services (Service, Quantity, Cost)Labor or other services consumed; their cost is prorated across the finished products.
Operations Path (Operation, Work Center, Operator, Equipment, Hours, From, To)The detail of the operations performed. Only with Work Centers enabled; the description is required on every line and hours can't be negative.
NotesFree-form comment, also shown on the print view.

Validations when saving

  • The date must fall within an open Inventory accounting period.
  • The Location is required and its Subsidiary must match the document's Subsidiary.
  • At least one finished product with a valid item is required.
  • The document can't have more lines than the maximum number of lines allowed per transaction.
  • The linked Production Order must exist, not be voided and not be Closed.
  • Every produced item must be one of the finished products defined on the order's Bill of Materials, with the same unit of measure.
  • If the item requires a serial number, it's required (no duplicate serials).
  • If the item requires a bin, it must belong to the document's Location; if it doesn't require one, a bin can't be set.
  • If the item requires a lot, it's required (a new lot is created automatically if it doesn't exist yet); if it doesn't require one, no lot or expiration date can be set.
  • If the item has attributes configured (Color, Size, etc.), they are required on the line.
  • A service's cost can't exceed the maximum cost limit configured in the system.
  • If you use the Operations Path, every line requires a Description; hours can't be negative, and the referenced operator, work center, equipment, BOM stage or operation must exist and not be inactive.
  • The document number can't be changed once created.

Voiding and deleting

To void or delete a construction, the Production Order it originated from must not be voided or closed, and the accounting period of the document's date must still be open. When deleting, AdmCloud first checks that the construction has no accounting records or other documents depending on it.

Availability, plans and conditions

  • This feature requires the Advanced Manufacturing module active in your company (available as an add-on module of the Enterprise edition). Without this module, the screen shows a "not available on this edition" message.
  • Tracking Rejected Quantity per finished-product line only appears if your company has that feature enabled, in addition to the Advanced Manufacturing module.
  • The Operations Path tab only appears if your company has Work Centers enabled.
  • The Lot, Serial, Bin and Attributes columns only appear for items that require them, and only if your company has those features enabled (Advanced Inventory).
  • Access is controlled with the "Finished Product Construction" permission of the user group, with separate levels for browsing, adding, editing, deleting and voiding.
  • With Subsidiaries enabled, the list is limited to your current Subsidiary and the Subsidiary is required when saving.

Tips and common mistakes

💡

If you need to record new production, go to the matching Production Order and use its Build button; don't look for a "New" button on this screen.

⚠️

"The linked production order is voided/closed" shows up if you try to edit, void or delete a construction whose Production Order has already been closed or voided; in that case it can't be modified.

ℹ️

A finished product's final cost isn't just its Bill of Materials cost: it also includes its proportional share of the Services recorded on that tab.
