Shortcuts
Shortcuts are your own saved links to the screens and pages you use most inside AdmCloud (or even to external pages), so you can reach them with one click from your dashboard or from the side menu, instead of navigating the full menu every time. Each user manages their own: they're personal and are not shared with the rest of the company.
What is it and what is it for?
A Shortcut stores a caption (the name you give it) and an address (the URL of the screen or page you want to get back to quickly). It can point to an internal AdmCloud screen — for example an already-filtered list, a report with its parameters, or a specific customer's detail — or to an external page, like your bank's site or a tool you use daily.
When a shortcut points to an internal screen, AdmCloud stores the address as a relative path (for
example /Customers/?x=1, without the domain name) so it keeps working no matter
which domain you log in from. External addresses are stored in full, exactly as you type them.
Ways to create and view your shortcuts
| Where | What it does |
|---|---|
| Star ☆ button on the top bar | Present on almost every screen in the app (except the main dashboard and the panel-configuration screen). Clicking it opens a window with the caption already suggested (the current screen's name) and the address already filled with the exact URL you're viewing, including any applied filters or parameters. You can adjust both fields before saving. |
| "Shortcuts" dashboard panel | Lists your shortcuts as direct links. Includes an "Add" button that expands a short form (caption and address) to create a new one without leaving the dashboard, and an "Edit" button that takes you to the full list. |
| List (/Shortcuts/) | The full table of your shortcuts, with their caption and address. From here you open each one's detail or go straight to editing it. |
| Details | Shows the saved caption and address, read-only, with the option to edit or delete the shortcut. |
| New / Edit | Form to capture or correct the shortcut's caption and address. |
How to use it, step by step
- Go to the screen you want to save (with its filters or parameters already applied, if it's a list or report).
- Click the star ☆ icon on the top-right bar.
- Review or change the suggested caption, so you can easily recognize the shortcut later.
- Adjust the address if needed (for example, to point to an external page instead of the current one).
- Save. The shortcut is immediately available in your side menu, under "Shortcuts", and on your dashboard's panel.
- To edit or delete it, open Shortcuts from the side menu or from the "Edit" button on the dashboard panel, open the record, and use the edit or delete buttons.
Key capabilities
- Auto-suggested caption: clicking the star proposes the active side-menu link's name as the caption (or, if it can't find one, the screen's heading), so you rarely need to type it from scratch.
- Exact address of the current screen: the full URL is saved, including filters and parameters, so a shortcut to a filtered list opens that same filter next time.
- Works from any domain: internal addresses are stored as relative paths, so the shortcut keeps working even if your company changes domains or you log in from a different URL.
- Shortcuts to external pages: you can also save a link to any site outside AdmCloud (for example your bank's portal), not just internal screens.
- Available on the dashboard and in the side menu: your shortcuts show up both on the Dashboard panel and in their own side-menu section, so you can navigate from either place.
- Quick add/remove buttons in the side menu: depending on the configuration enabled for your company, every side-menu link can show a small button to add it straight to your Shortcuts, and every shortcut one to remove it, both with a two-click confirmation and no page reload.
Key fields
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Caption | The name you'll recognize the shortcut by in your side menu and on the dashboard panel. Required. |
| Address (URL) | The page the shortcut takes you to: an internal AdmCloud screen (with or without filters) or an external page. Required. |
Validations on save
- The caption is required. A shortcut can't be saved without a name.
- The address is required and must be a valid URL, either absolute (for example
https://example.com) or relative (for example/Customers/). If it doesn't have a recognizable format, saving is rejected with an "invalid URL" message. - Each shortcut belongs to a single user. You can't see or manage another user's shortcuts within your company.
Availability
- Shortcuts are available on every plan, for any logged-in user, with no special permission required.
- The quick add/remove buttons directly in the side menu depend on a configuration enabled for your company; if you don't see them, you can still create and manage your shortcuts normally from the star button and the dashboard panel.
Tips and common mistakes
Save already-filtered lists as a shortcut. If you often check, for example, "a customer's overdue invoices" or "items below reorder point", apply the filter first and then click the star: the shortcut will open that list with the same filter every time.
Edited the caption but don't see the change in the menu? The Shortcuts side menu refreshes on save or on page reload; if you just created one from the star button and don't see it right away, refresh the page.
"Invalid URL" when saving: check that the address is complete (for example,
starting with https:// if it's an external page) and has no stray blank spaces.
